Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon
Ever have the experience of reading a book you’ve really been looking forward to because everyone said it was great and then you finally get to it and you’re all, “I don’t get it”? Yeah, that just happened to me. I had such high hopes for Wonder Boys but never found the kind of enjoyment that others seemed to have. In fact, the only real pleasure I got from the novel was quietly singing Wonder Boy under my breath every time I pulled it out of my bag.
Sometimes I wonder if not feeling the same way about books is a flaw of my own or if the book is actually not as good as it wants to be. It’s hard to tell without some backup opinions. Either way, it won’t change the fact that books we don’t like are inevitably going to show up one way or another. To sum it up: oh well.
