What I’ve Read: Bossypants by Tina Fey
I know a lot of people have read this by now, so I’ll keep things short and sweet. This book was a fun, quick read and was exactly what I expected. I love Tina (who doesn’t?) and her writing is clever, sarcastic and quite funny. It’s always touch and go when you read a book written by a well-known comedian. Often their humor doesn’t translate well on a page or seems forced and overdone. That’s not the case here. Quips fall off the page easily and I was laughing out loud at a few sections.
There was only one fault (maybe “fault” is a bad word) that I found with the book. I reached the end and realized I hadn’t learned much more about her or her work. She has managed to write an entire book about herself and only reveal marginal details in the process. I was hoping for a bit more about SNL and a lot more about 30 Rock, but, for example, she boils down SNL to essentially her dealings with celebrity guests and her Sarah Palin impersonation.
Despite this little quibble, I’m still recommending Bossypants to you, especially if you’re a diehard Tina Fey fan. It’s the perfect light read…but, maybe too light. I’ll let you decide!
Have you read it? What did you think?

It is a bit light, but it was still fun. I read it all one Sunday afternoon and thought it could have used more stuff.
